August 30: Hitchin Town picked up their second win of the season with a 2-1 success at Brackley Town. The winning goal came in added time when Gordon Barr netted from close range. Barr came on as substitute in the 70th minute.
Mark Barnes had given the Canaries a 1-0 lead in the first half but Ben Mackey levelled for the home side in the 33rd minute.
Hitchin fielded new signing Tyron Sealey, who returned to the club on Friday. The Canaries are at home on Tuesday night (September 2) when they meet Rugby Town at Top Field.
Elsewhere, Bedford won at Tiverton 2-0, Stevenage were 3-1 winners at Barrow and Luton won 1-0 at Exeter to chip away at their massive points deficit.

August 30: Hitchin Town will play host to Concord Rangers after the Ryman Division One side beat Kingsbury London Tigers in the preliminary round. Concord won 2-0.
In the big local derby, Langford were narrowly beaten by Arlesey Town, who clinched victory with a goal from Jamie Osbourne on the hour. The game was far from entertaining, according to Y&G sources. Josh Sozzo scored Barton's winner against Burnham Ramblers - they won 2-1. Stotfold went through, winning 2-1 at Halstead.
The first qualifying round games involving local teams are (September 13): Hitchin v Concorde Rangers, Brentwood v Arlesey, Ware v Barton Rovers, Canvey Island v Dunstable, Royston v Hendon, Boreham Wood v Biggleswade United, Stotfold v Leighton.
August 30: Stevenage came from behind to secure their first victory of the season at Barrow. Barrow went ahead after 12 minutes from fwith a Steve McNulty penalty, but Boro hit back when Peter Vincenti headed home after 30 minutes. Fred Murray put Boro ahead on the stroke of half-time and Lawrie Wilson warpped up the points after 75. The win moved Graham Westle's men out of the relegation zone.
BGB Premier: Farnborough top after draw
August 30: Farnborough went top of the BGB Premier after drawing 0-0 at Evesham United. As the new boys were fighting it out, Yate were losing their unbeaten home record, going down 0-2 at home to Gloucester in front of the biggest crowd of the day, 430. Halesowen and Corby both improved their position, Corby trouncing Swindon Supermarine 4-1 with former Hitchin striker Matt Nolan scoring twice. Swindon had taken an early lead, aswell! Another Hitchin old boy on the scoresheet was Dean Brennan, who scored in Halesowen's 1-1 draw at Hemel Hempstead.
Merthyr Tydfil's bizarre season continued with a 4-1 win at Oxford City. Player manager Garry Shephard netted two, following his hat-trick on Bank Holiday Monday. Merthyr's five games this season have yielded 23 goals!
Cambridge City slumped to a shock defeat, with goalkeeper Richard Wilmot being blamed for the loss. Stourbridge came good at last, beating Clevedon 6-1. Bedford pulled off a surprise 2-0 win at Tiverton and Rugby were beaten by a first half goal at home to Chippenham. Bashley disposed of Banbury with a late goal winning the points. Hitchin's 2-1 win at Brackley was clinched by an added time goal from substitute Gordon Barr.

August 30: Hitchin Town Arena were beaten for the first time this season when they went down 0-3 at home to Harpenden Rovers. Among the scorers was he veteran Graham Golds. The Arena's next game is on September 6 against Bedmond at Norton Road.
August 30: Baldock Town were beaten 2-3 at the County Ground by Herts Senior County League leaders Codicote. Included in the Codicote side was Hitchin Town's Graham Clark. Baldock were playing their first home game of the season and expected to include new signing Rob Beckwith in their squad.
August 30: The Champions League group stage draw will see Manchester United and Celtic come head-to-head. European champions United have a relatively easy passge through, with Villareal and Aalborg also providing the opposition. Chelsea have Roma, Bordeaux and CFR Cluj of Romania. Liverpool will meet PSV Eindhoven, Marseille and Atletico Madrid. Arsenal, meanwhile, will face Porto, Fenerbache and Dynamo Kiev. In the UEFA Cup, Portsmouth meet Vitoria SC, Manchester City play Omonio, Everton meet Standard Liege, Aston Villa play Litex Lovech and Tottenham meet Wisla Krakow.
